Born 1895 in Hampstead, one of twelve children of Alfred and Rosalind Ellerton. In 1901/1911 family lived at 28 Parliament Hill, Belsize; his father was a chartered accountant. In 1911 Francis was still at school. He volunteered early and was promoted Corporal. (There is some suggestion he was gazetted 2nd Liuetenant in Feb 1915, but this is not verified.) He served entirely in the UK, and died at Aylesbury, Bucks in an accident while on active service. Not found on Church Row War Memorial or in Parish magazine.
