Son of William and Annie Maria Odell, of 11 Church Lane, New End, Hampstead (1911). Old boy of HPS; was an errand boy in 1911. Served in destroyer Medea (launched March 1915) patrolling the Schleswig coast in March 1916, and was sunk following collision with another ship. Posted briefly to light cruiser Lowestoft (launched April 1913), then flagship of 2nd Light Cruiser Squadron. Presumed died of injuries received in sinking – just 5 weeks before battle of Jutland. Commemorated on the War Memorial in Church Row.
