Born Dec 1879, eldest son of Stanley and Annie Elizabeth Howard of Conduct Lodge, Fitzjohn’s Avenue (1881); father was a furniture manufacturer. Also grandson of Alfred Bell, stained glass artist, and living with grandparents (1891) at Bayford House, Thurlow Road after death of his father. Married Lilian Howard (formerly Sansom). Joined up from Territorial Force. Commemorated on the War Memorial in Church Row. (See also Guy Bayford Bell, cousin)
